1. Clear & Shiny eyes - no eye discharge, no eye lesions ("walang mabahong muta, walang sugat sa mata")
2. Moist nose - a dry nose is a sign of illness (fever), no mucoid discharge (walang uhog/sipon)
3. Ears- clean & Odor free
4. Skin is clear & pinkish (not reddish & inflammed) - no signs of dermatitis (flaking dandruff, pustules, ulcers, bald spots)
5. Coat is thick, soft& shiny. Never dull and sparse ("kaunti ang buhok at naglalagas!"), no matts & tangles
6. Flea & Tick Free
- Scan the skin with your bare hand by pushing the coat backwards from
tail to head direction to get a good view of the skin, any TICKS AND
FLEAS at such an early age is a HEALTH RISK!
ex: Blood-Borne diseases from tick bites (Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis)
7. Puppy should be happy to meet you and alert (not sleepy and drowsy)
8. Big appetite - a puppy with a voracious appetite will develop well in life
9. Allow the puppy to walk and run
- notice for signs of limping ("pilay"), a puppy that refuses to walk
is probably NOT SOCIALIZED at all and caged all its life such that it
does not know how to walk on its own when let out from the cage Sad
10. Check the Vaccination Record
- It should be signed by the Vet, with License Number & PTR Number
Canine Vaccines are administered by Licensed Vets in the Philippines as
required by Philippine Law = NO BREEDER can purchase vaccines from ANY
Source and Administer the Shots themselves to their puppies.
11. If the puppy defecates during your visit, check for stool quality (it should formed with no bloody or mucoid discharge)
Ex: Loose, watery, mucoid or blood-tinged stools are a HEALTH RISK!
12. Feel the Puppy's body - should be robust and solid, no bones showing from the sides
